Protests Break Out Across the Country

Protestors have successfully overrun the Third Precinct Building in Minneapolis and set it on fire, forcing police to completely abandon the building and flee the scene. Protestors have gathered out front and are leading chants, and fireworks have been set off in the background.

It is difficult to see where the protests go from here, but it will almost certainly provoke a response. At any rate, it is a historic event that represents the first time in recent American history that such a significant symbol of power. Protests have not been limited to Minneapolis. Protests have also begun in cities across the country, with more planned. There are reports of protests in Columbus turning violent, and there are reports that protestors nearly broke into the State Capitol there.

The National Guard has been mobilized to Minneapolis, per NPR.

The City of Minneapolis has warned that the Third Precinct Police Station is at risk for explosion.

The National Guard has arrived on the scene of the Minneapolis protests.
