Iran Launches Missiles at Ain Assad Military Base in Iraq

 19:12 ET:
At 1:20 local time, the Al Asad base in Iraq was attacked by a missile strike. Iran has claimed responsibility. The attack, which coincided with the time of death of Qassem Soleimani, was reportedly codenamed "Operation Qassem Soleimani. Soleimani, the leader of Iran's military, was killed on January 3rd by an American airstrike. The number of casualties is not known at this time.

 20:02 ET:
Two bases were struck in the attack: Al Asad and Erbil. President Trump may address the nation at some point tonight. Iran is warning other nations in the area not to assist the American Navy.

20:18 ET
American officials confirm that there have been Iraqi casualties. There has been no official word on American casualties.

20:45 ET
President Trump will not be addressing the nation tonight.

21:54 ET
President Trump announced on Twitter that he would address the nation tomorrow morning. While there is no update on American casualties, there are reports that say that our troops had advance warning and were able to take cover.

10:00 ET
President Trump will address the nation at 11:00 ET. In addition, sources say that Iran specifically targeted the bases that it did to avoid numerous US casualties.
